Assembly & Care

Clamp-on or braze-on front derailleurs.

We definitely favor clamp-on derailleurs. Why?

Flexibility is why.

• There is so little flexibility in front derailleur design that you may be precluded from upgrading your drivetrain - let's say to a compact design, or mayby a double to a triple, or from Shimano to Campy to SRAM.
• With the rise of single chainring drive trains, it would be nice not to have a useless braze-on decorating the seat tube.
• Some newer derailleurs (namely Shimano) no longer function properly when positioned with a 28.6mm boss.

Instead, use a 31.8 clamp and use a Wheels Manufacturing 1 piece clamp to shim it down to 28.6mm.
