Warranty

What constitutes normal wear and tear for warranty purposes.

The term \"normal wear and tear\" describes a range of damage that often occurs to a frame during hard use. Such damage is not covered by the Waterford Limited Warranty. This includes scratches, chips, rust and dents that may occur during the course of the thousands of miles per year a Waterford typically sees in the course of duty.

The best way to minimize wear and tear is to following the recommendations contained in the Waterford Owner\'s Manual, including:

  • Keep your bike clean and waxed. Wax protects the color and finish while dramatically reducing corrosion and significantly increasing resistance to chipping and abrasion. Regular cleaning prevents salts, dirt and dust from compromising your wax job.
  • Be careful when transporting or servicing your bike to avoid damage from inappropriate clamping. Follow the rack or stand manufacturer\'s recommendations for avoiding denting or otherwise damaging the finish.
  • Replace undersized seatposts. In many cases, seatposts that begin to slip have suffered from \"necking\", where the seatpost diameter is compressed right at the seatpost clamp.
  • Apply internal rust protectant and keep your frame drained of any water accumulated during wet weather riding.
  • Follow the manufacturer\'s specs and professional mechanic practices when assembling, installing and adjusting components or accessories. Do not reverse the position of the seatpost clamp. The slot on the clamp must match the position of the slot on the seat tube or damage can to the frame can occur. We recommend a minimum seat post insertion of 100mm (4 inches) for all Waterford frames.
  • For quill stems, keep the stem wedge bolt below any threads before tightening the wedge bolt. Tightening the wedge bolt in the threaded area can damage the fork and prevent proper disassembly of the fork from the frame.
  • Perform regular maintenance to your bike, including an annual overhaul.
  • Ride safetly and courteously.
